Punjabi Dhol Group Pappu

We are a dhol group based in Daman. It is just Pappu and the rest of us who play the drums for local events. We do not have a big office or a fancy building with signs, just a place where we keep our instruments safe. When there is a festival or a wedding happening, we get our dhols out and head over to the venue. Daman is a small place so we end up traveling around quite a bit to different neighborhoods. The drums are quite heavy and playing them for hours is very tiring, but it is what we do for a living. You can usually hear us coming from a long way off. We do not use any recorded music or big speakers, just the natural sound of the wood and the leather. Sometimes our hands get really sore after a long night of playing at a party, but we just keep going. It is a lot of noise and sweat. People usually find us by asking around the market or because they heard us playing at someone else's function. We do not have a website or anything like that. It is just about showing up on time and playing until the event is finally over. The weather in Daman can be very humid, which is not great for the drum skins, so we have to take care of them constantly. Pappu makes sure everything is in order before we leave. We are just local people with our drums.
