Lumen School

Lumen School is found at Vivekanand Kutir, which is house number 14/10 in the Sarvoday Society. We are in the Nani area of Daman. It’s a quiet residential spot, which is nice for a school. The building is basically a house, so it doesn't feel like those big, cold government buildings. We have several rooms used for classes, and things are a bit tight sometimes when everyone is here. Sarvoday Society is a settled neighborhood, and many of the kids walk here from nearby houses. Daman has that coastal feel, and the weather usually dictates how we spend our day. When it’s nice, we might be a bit more active, but during the heavy rains, we stay tucked inside Vivekanand Kutir. The school isn't trying to be something it’s not. We teach the basics, make sure the students behave, and handle the paperwork that comes with running a school. You might see some peeling paint or a door that creaks, but the classrooms are full of energy. The teachers are mostly women from the local community who know the students' families well. We don’t have a big playground, just a bit of space outside the house. It’s a modest setup where we focus on the daily lessons. It’s just a regular part of life for the people living in Nani Daman, providing a place for their children to go every morning without a long commute to the city.
