Hotel Ratnakar

Our office and hotel, Hotel Ratnakar, is situated in Devka, Daman. If you know this coastal town, you know it gets quite packed on the weekends. We are right there in the middle of it. The air here always has a bit of salt in it from the sea, and things tend to rust a little faster than they do inland. We spend a lot of time painting and fixing things up because of the humidity. It’s a modest place, really. We don't have those big swimming pools or fancy buffets. We mostly have families who are looking for a weekend break without spending too much money. The building is a bit older, tucked away in 396210, and it has its own rhythm. During the week, it’s actually quite peaceful, and you can hear the birds or the distant sound of the waves. But come Friday, everything changes and the pace picks up around the street. We are just ordinary people running a business. We don't have a mission statement or anything like that; we just want to make sure the rooms are ready when people arrive. Sometimes we run out of something or the cable goes out, and we have to scramble to fix it. It’s just the way it is when you run a small hotel by the coast. We’ve lived here a long time and wouldn't know what to do with ourselves if we weren't here working.
