Veles Exports Private Limited is down in Mangalore, specifically at Door No. 2-12-6/9 in the Shakthinagar area. Being in Dakshina Kannada means we get a lot of rain for part of the year, and you can definitely feel the humidity inside the office most days. The post office is nearby, which is handy for us when we need to send out documents. Our workspace isn't very large, but it fits the few of us who are here every day. We have some plastic chairs for guests and a couple of heavy desks where we keep our computers and all the folders. The floor is tiled and easy to clean, which is good because we tend to track in some sand or dirt from the street during the monsoon. There is a small kitchen area in the back where we make coffee or heat up our lunch. We don't have any big signs or fancy decorations on the walls. It is just a practical place to work on our export business. Sometimes it gets a bit quiet around here, which is a nice change from the busy markets downtown. We spend a lot of time checking schedules and talking to people about where things need to go across the water. It’s a straightforward way to earn a living, and we’ve gotten used to the rhythm of life here in this part of Karnataka. It feels like a real community where everyone knows the business next door and says hello.
