Trainee

Our office is located at Site Number 66 in the 5th Block of Krishnapura, over in the Katipalla area of Mangalore. The address is linked to the late Mohan G. Uppian’s family, and Arunraj M. Uppian looks after the place now. Mangalore has that coastal feel, so it’s often quite warm and sticky, but we have some good fans to keep the air moving. Being in the 5th Block means we are part of an established community. The building is simple and practical, just like the work we do. We focus on training people and managing the daily chores that come with a small business in Karnataka. We don't have any corporate branding on the walls, just some old photos and the necessary paperwork pinned up on boards. The neighborhood is a mix of houses and small businesses, so there is always someone to chat with during the tea break. We usually start the day with a bit of cleaning and then get straight into the files. It’s not a fast-paced environment, but we stay consistent. The local language is what you hear most in the office, and we like it that way. It feels more natural. We’ve been at this site for a long time and we know the rhythms of Katipalla pretty well by now. We just take things as they come and try to keep everything organized for the trainees who come through our doors every month. It's just a regular local operation. We don't have big signs.
