Shanthi Nilaya in Bantwal is where we are set up. It’s a quiet spot in Karnataka. Being part of Shapoorji Pallonji & Co Ltd out here feels a bit different than being in a big city branch. It’s more personal and the pace is a little slower. People around Bantwal know who we are. We work out of this place and it’s served us well for a long time. The air is a bit fresher here than in the cities. We mostly deal with the construction work happening in this particular region. Our morning starts with checking the site reports and having a bit of coffee. We don’t have a massive HR department or anything like that. It’s just us. If there’s a problem on a site, we just talk it out and fix it as fast as we can. We drink a lot of coffee, as you’d expect in this part of the country. The office is simple, just the basics like desks and chairs and some filing cabinets. We spend a lot of time on the phone or out in the field. We don’t have time for long meetings that don't go anywhere. We’d rather be out making sure things are actually getting built correctly. It’s honest work. Sometimes we have to deal with the heavy rain, which can really slow things down for weeks. But we’ve learned to work around it. We’ve been here long enough to know the rhythms of the seasons.
