Nihal Designer

Nihal Designer is tucked away in the Koragappa Krupa Building which is right on Kulur Ferry Road. It is one of those places where you will always find bits of thread and scraps of fabric all over the floor by the end of the day. We have the sewing machines set up near the windows to get as much natural light as possible while we work on different patterns. Kulur Ferry Road is usually busy with people going to work or heading toward the water, so there is always something to see out the window. The building itself is an older one, but it works for what we do. People come in with ideas for outfits or bring in things that need to be fixed up. I spend most of my time with a measuring tape around my neck or sketching out something on a piece of paper. It’s not a big glamorous studio, just a working space where things get made. Sometimes we stay late when there is a lot of work to finish, and the sound of the machines is the only thing you can hear. Finding the right color match for a piece of cloth can take forever, which is sometimes frustrating. But we just take it one piece at a time. If you are looking for us, just find the Koragappa Krupa Building and head inside. It is a quiet little spot for designing clothes in a busy area.
