We’re tucked away in the Mallya Compound on Gold Smith Road here in Mulky. It’s a quiet part of Karnataka, and the office reflects that. This is where the ECC division work happens for our local area. The building has been around for a long time, and we share the space with the local history of the Mallya family. It’s not like the big corporate towers you see in the city. We have a few rooms filled with desks and old cabinets. The air is a bit saltier here because we aren't too far from the coast. Most of our day involves coordinating with people on different sites. We don't have a lot of visitors, so when someone drops by, it’s usually a bit of an event. We have a small yard outside where we park our bikes. The stairs are a bit narrow and the floors are old tile, but it’s a solid place to spend the day. We don’t go in for big decorations or fancy furniture. It’s just practical stuff that we need to do our jobs. Sometimes the monkeys around the compound get a bit noisy, but that’s just life in Mulky. We like the slow pace here compared to the bigger branch offices. It gives us time to actually focus on what we are doing without too many interruptions from the outside world. The rains can be heavy during the monsoon, and we have to watch for leaks in the roof, but we handle it. It's a peaceful spot to get things done. We've been here long enough that we feel part of the scenery.
