Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (Reservation Counter)

If you have ever been to the Bejai area in Mangalore, you probably know where the KSRTC bus stand is. That is exactly where we are based. It is always loud and there are people everywhere, which is just how a bus station is. Our reservation counter is right in the middle of all that noise. We spend our day talking to people who are trying to get from one place to another. It can get pretty crowded, especially on weekends when everyone wants to go back home or visit family. Working at the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation counter means you see all kinds of people. Some are in a huge rush and others are just waiting around for their bus to show up. The Bejai area is a busy part of town and being at the bus stand means we are right in the thick of it. There are a lot of snack shops around the bus stand, so there is always a smell of fried food in the air. We have our little window where we talk to passengers and print out their tickets. It is not a quiet job, that is for sure. The buses are always coming and going, and you can hear the engines and the conductors calling out destinations all day long. We just stay at our desk and handle the bookings as they come. Sometimes the computer system is slow, and we have to tell people to wait a minute. It is just a normal government office feel.
