You can find us at the Crystal Arc building on Balmatta Road. We are right on the ground floor, which makes it easy for anyone passing through Hampankatta to just step inside. This part of Mangalore is always moving, especially with all the shops and other businesses around us. The office is where we handle all the tourism stuff for the state. It’s a simple room with some counters and a couple of computers that have seen better days. We spend the day talking to people about where they want to go in Karnataka. It’s a lot of explaining routes and checking schedules. The noise from Balmatta Road is something you just get used to after a while. We have some posters on the walls showing different places, but they’ve started to fade a bit from the sun coming through the front window. It’s just a handful of us working here. We don’t have any big corporate rules; we just talk to people like they’re our neighbors. Sometimes the office gets crowded when a big group comes in all at once, and we have to scramble to find enough chairs for everyone. It’s honest work and we like being in the heart of the city. Crystal Arc is a well-known spot, so we don’t usually have to give long directions to anyone looking for the tourism office.
