You can find us at Kusuma Nivas Hoigegudde House in Padupanambur. It's near Haleangady Post, out in the Mangalore area. It is a bit of a traditional spot for a transport business, being based in a house like this. We have been part of the local industry here for a long time. The office is basically just a part of the house where we keep the ledgers and the phones. Mangalore is a big hub for transport, so there is always a truck moving somewhere. We handle a lot of the coordination from right here. It’s a bit quiet around the house compared to the main city, which is nice. We have the trees outside and it feels more like a home than a workplace sometimes. But when the phone rings, it’s all business. We have to talk to the drivers and the clients and make sure the cargo is moving along the roads. It takes a lot of patience to deal with transport in this part of the country, especially during the heavy rains we get. We don’t use any big words to describe what we do. We just move things. The paperwork can be a headache sometimes, but someone has to do it. It’s just us here, working through the daily list of chores and shipments. We have our lunches together and then get back to checking the logbooks for the afternoon. It is a steady way to make a living.
