About Forum For Indigenous Agriculturalmovement – Charity & Non Profit Organisations in Dakshin Dinajpur
Our group is based out in Hatiaps, near Raiganj in the Uttar Dinajpur area. If you come looking for us, the office is right at Binay Krishna Das’s place. It’s not a big commercial building, just a regular spot in the village. Most of our time gets spent out in the fields or talking to the folks around here about farming. We started this because things were changing with the land and someone needed to look out for the local way of doing things. It isn't a high-tech operation at all. Usually, you’ll find us sitting around on the porch or in the small office area when there is paperwork to finish. The roads can be a bit bumpy getting out here, especially during the monsoon season, but that’s just how it is. Seeds, soil, and whatever the local farmers are worried about that week are what we deal with. There isn't any fancy branding or big presentations. Just a bunch of us who care about how things grow in this part of Bengal. Sometimes the tea runs out when visitors come by, so we have to send a boy down the road. It’s a simple life and simple work. Marketing budgets aren't something we have. We just use what we have and try to make sense of the agricultural problems in our own backyard. It’s quiet out here mostly, except for the birds and the tractors.
