Lanewala Traders

Lanewala Traders is out on Godi Road, right by the Navyug Tiles Factory. You can’t miss it because of all the tile stacks nearby. Our place is full of all sorts of trading goods. It’s a bit of a maze inside. We have crates and bags piled up, and sometimes you have to move three things just to get to one. The floor is concrete and stays cool even when it’s hot outside. We spend the morning checking what came in and what needs to go out. The road gets muddy when it rains, so we spend a lot of time wiping our boots. We aren't trying to be the biggest traders around. We just want to make sure the local shops get what they need. It’s a lot of lifting and moving. My back feels it by the end of the week. We talk to the truck drivers who come in from the main road. They tell us stories about the roads and the traffic. We give them some tea and get the paperwork signed. It’s a simple routine. We don’t use fancy computers for everything; a lot of it is still written down in big ledgers. It works for us. We’ve been on Godi Road for a while now and we know the shortcuts and the neighbors. We just keep our heads down and do the work. It is enough for us.
