Out here at the GIDC Industrial Estate in Dahej, things operate on a pretty massive scale. This is the manufacturing division for Reliance Industries, and the site is honestly huge. It’s a landscape of pipes, tanks, and steel structures that goes on for quite a bit. Working here means getting used to the wind coming off the coast and the constant vibration of heavy machinery. It’s a 24-hour operation, so there are always people coming on or off their shifts at the gates. We don't have much time for fluff; the work is very technical and focused on keeping the systems running without a hitch. The heat can be intense, especially near the units, and you definitely need your safety gear on at all times. It’s a busy place with trucks moving in and out of the estate constantly, carrying raw materials or finished products. Our offices are tucked into the middle of all this industrial activity, and they’re pretty functional—lots of whiteboards, hard hats on hooks, and people drinking tea while staring at monitors. We just focus on the daily production targets and making sure the maintenance schedules are followed. It’s a lot of responsibility, but we just take it one shift at a time. It’s not the kind of place you’d come for a tour, but it’s where the real work of making things actually happens.
