We are tucked away in the GIDC Industrial Estate over in Jolva. To get here, you have to take the Dahej Road, which is usually packed with tankers and freight trucks heading toward the port. Our spot is at Survey No. 130. It’s a typical industrial setting, lots of gray buildings and the smell of dust and machinery in the air. At Pavits Ceramics, we spend the bulk of our time around the production lines. The floors are hard, and the noise from the fans is constant. It's not a place for quiet conversation, that’s for sure. We use hand signals a lot when the machines are really roaring. Every day feels a bit different depending on what we are running through the kilns. Sometimes things go perfectly, and other times we’re stuck fixing a belt or clearing a jam for two hours. That’s just the nature of the work. We have a small crew, and everyone knows their role without being told much. We don't have a receptionist or a fancy lobby. If you show up, you’ll probably find one of us covered in clay dust near the back. We try to keep the loading dock organized so the drivers can get in and out quickly, but the Dahej Road traffic sometimes messes up the schedule. It’s a gritty job, but it’s what we do. We just keep the wheels turning and try to finish the day’s work before the sun goes down.
