Mahendra Marbles

Our shop, Mahendra Marbles, sits right on the Main Railway Road in Surajpur. It’s a loud spot because the trains go by all the time, shaking the ground a little. We are very close to the Payal Cinema, so in the evenings, the area gets quite crowded with people coming for the movies. We’ve been at this location for a long time, and everyone around here knows the spot. The yard is usually filled with different kinds of marble brought in from the mines. It gets dusty because of the traffic on the road, but we try to keep the pieces clean enough to see the patterns. Most of the time, it’s just me and a couple of helpers moving things around with the crane. We don't have any big posters or fancy lights. The sign out front is a bit faded from the sun, but it still says the name clearly. People usually stop by after seeing the cinema or when they are headed to the station. It is a practical business. We deal with regular folks from around Surajpur who just want some good stone for their homes. There is no secret to what we do. We just open up early, handle the heavy lifting, and close when the sun goes down. It’s hard on the back, but it’s honest work.
