R D Engineer

We started R D Engineer here in Anakhia a while back. It’s a quiet spot in Jagat Singh Pur, but we stay busy enough with the work that comes through the door. Being at Rajanikanta Ray's place makes it easy for folks to find us since most people around here know the location. It isn't a huge operation or anything fancy. We just have our tools and a workspace where we figure out how to fix things or build what's needed for the local projects. Some days are slow and we just sit and drink tea, while other times three people show up at once with something broken. That's just how it goes in Orissa. We don’t really have a big staff, just a few of us who know our way around a wrench and some drawings. If you walk past the post office, you're pretty much there. We like it this way because we get to talk to everyone who stops by. There's no front desk or formal waiting room. You just come in, tell us what the issue is, and we see if we can help out. It gets hot in the afternoons but we keep the fans going and keep working. It’s a living and we’ve been doing it long enough that the routine feels right. We don't spend money on big signs or anything. People just know where we are.
