Nuapatana Ikat Handloom Producer Companylimited

Our setup is based at Pradeep Kumar Bardhan’s house in Nuapatna, Tigiria. If you know Nuapatna, you know it is all about the Ikat weaving. We are a producer company, which basically means we work with the weavers right here in the village. It is not a corporate office at all. It is a home where we gather to manage the handloom work. There are looms clicking in the background and the smell of dyed yarn is always in the air. We don't have a glossy brochure or a fancy website. We just have the skills of the people who have been doing this for generations. Tigiria is a quiet place, but when it comes to Ikat, everyone is very serious. We spend our days checking the patterns and making sure the threads are right. It is a lot of manual work and sometimes it gets exhausting. There are threads everywhere and the rooms are often full of finished pieces waiting to be sent out. We don't try to sound like a big international company because we aren't. We are just local people in Nuapatna trying to make sure our handloom traditions stay alive and that the weavers get their work done. It is a bit messy and very busy, but it is our life and we are proud of the Ikat we help produce. We just take it day by day and keep the looms going as much as we can.
