Our office is tucked away in the accounts section over at the NRRI campus in Bidyadharpur. It’s a quiet part of town, mostly just researchers and staff walking around between the buildings. We spend most of our hours looking at spreadsheets and sorting through piles of receipts that come in from the different departments. The desks are always covered in files and sometimes it feels like the paper never ends. We have a small kettle in the corner for tea, which helps on those long afternoons when the numbers start to look a bit blurry. The building itself is older, but it stays cool enough in the summer. People drop by to ask about their payments or to fix some error in their records, and we just do our best to find the right folder. It isn't a flashy job, but it’s steady. Sometimes the birds get quite loud outside the window near the fields. Bidyadharpur is a nice enough place to work if you don't mind the commute from the main city area. We mostly keep to ourselves and focus on getting the books balanced by the end of the month. It’s funny how much paper a place like this can produce over a few weeks. We have a routine that works for us, and the staff here knows where to find us when they need something cleared up with their accounts. It’s just us and the calculators every day and we like the quiet.
