M/S Hindustan Construction Co Ltd

Our site office for M/S Hindustan Construction Co Ltd is located right on the edge of the NH-5A. We are working on the Paradip Port Connectivity Road project. The office is in a small place called Gandhi, near the Kantigadia post office in Jajpur. It’s not much to look at. It is basically a temporary building made of metal sheets and wood. The ground is always covered in gravel and dust from the heavy trucks passing by. Inside, we have big tables where we spread out the road maps and construction plans. It’s usually quite loud because of the traffic and the machines working outside. We don’t have air conditioning, just some old ceiling fans that struggle with the Orissa heat. Most of our time is spent out on the road checking the progress, so the office is mostly a place to store tools and files. We eat our meals together while talking about the weather or the soil conditions. It is tough work and the days are long, but we are used to it. We aren't here to be fancy. We are just here to build the road and make sure the trucks can get to the port. If you come looking for us, you’ll probably find us covered in dirt near the bridge site.
