Our office for Metro Builders is located at Azam Khan Bazar, right near P.M. Academy in Cuttack. We share the space with M.Q. Alam’s place, so it’s a bit of a local landmark if you’ve lived in this part of Orissa for a while. We do construction work, mostly building houses and commercial spots around the city. It’s a lot of planning, dealing with cement, and making sure the workers show up on time. Our office is usually covered in dust from the local roads and filled with rolls of architectural drawings. It isn't a polished environment at all. We have tea together every morning and talk about which projects are behind schedule or what materials we need to order from the market. Cuttack is an old city, so building here can be tricky with the narrow streets and old drainage systems. We’ve had to figure things out as we go many times. We aren't a big, fancy firm from a metro city. We are just local builders who know the ground here in Buxi Bazar. Some days things go wrong, like the rain stopping a concrete pour, but we just deal with it the next day. We don’t have a big mission statement or anything like that. We just build things and try to make sure they don’t fall down. If you need to find us, just head toward the academy and ask around the bazaar.
