Laboratory Incharge

This lab is located in Subhadra Nagar, which is part of the Madhupatna area in Cuttack. I am the one in charge here, but that mostly just means I’m the person who stays late to lock up. Orissa can be quite a place to work, especially with the heavy rains we get during the monsoon season. The walls in the lab could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but the equipment works fine, and that is what actually matters. We see a lot of different people coming through every week. My desk is usually covered in forms and logs because there is always so much paperwork to track. I don't really like the administrative side of things, but it has to be done so nothing gets lost or mixed up. We aren't a big city hospital or anything like that. We are just a local lab serving the neighborhood. Sometimes the lights flicker when the power grid is heavy, so we have to be careful with the sensitive machines. I grew up not too far from here, so I know the roads and the people pretty well. It’s a bit noisy outside sometimes with the traffic from the main road, but inside we try to keep it calm. We don't put out ads or try to convince people of anything. We just do the tests, give out the results, and try to be helpful where we can. It is a basic operation but it works for us. We just take it day by day.
