You can find the Vdt Village Development Foundation at No - 31 on the Main Road in Kandamangalam. This is out in the Kattumannarkoil area, so it is very much a place where people know their neighbors. Being on the Main Road means we see a lot of what goes on in the village. People are always passing by on their way to the fields or the market. Our office is a simple one, right there where everyone can see it. We focus on the things that matter to the people living around here. It isn't about big speeches or glossy brochures for us. It is more about sitting down on a bench and talking about what needs fixing or who needs a bit of help with their paperwork. The building we are in is practical and does the job. We don't have air conditioning, so we usually leave the door open to catch whatever breeze comes off the road. Sometimes the dust from the street gets in, but we just sweep it out and keep going. We have been part of this community for a while, and we just want to keep things running smoothly for the village. It is a slow pace of life compared to Chennai, but there is always something to do. We just take it one day at a time here at the Kandamangalam post office area.
