Our place is called Tailar and you can find us on Kadambarayan St. It’s a small shop and we’ve been here for quite some time now. We spend most of our daylight hours sitting behind the sewing machines, just doing what needs to be done. It’s mostly local folks who come by with clothes that don’t fit right or fabric they bought and want made into something. The street outside can be really loud with the bikes and people walking by, but we just focus on the stitching. We’ve got thread in every color you can imagine hanging on the walls, and the floor is usually covered in little bits of fabric by the time evening rolls around. We aren't trying to be some big fashion house or anything fancy. We’re just tailors. Sometimes we have a backlog of work when there’s a holiday coming up, and we have to work a bit later than usual. My eyes get tired from looking at the needles all day, but it’s honest work. We don't have a big sign or anything, just the shop on Kadambarayan St that people know about. We just try to get the measurements right and make sure the seams are strong. It's a simple way to spend the day and we’ve grown to like the routine of it over the years, even when things get a bit hectic with all the fabric scraps.
