I work at Sri Sivasakthi Oil And Flour Mill, located at 204, Thiruvanamalai Road. It is a noisy place because of the machines we have running to grind the flour and press the oil. You can usually smell the grain from a distance before you even reach number 204. The dust from the flour gets everywhere, on my clothes and in my hair, but you get used to that after the first week. Thiruvanamalai Road is quite long, and we are just one of the many businesses along the way. We don't have a big marketing team or anything; we just have the mill and the customers who come by with their sacks. It is hard work, especially when the machines need fixing or when there's a huge pile of grain waiting to be processed. I spend a lot of my time making sure the motors are running right and that the oil is flowing into the containers correctly. Sri Sivasakthi Oil And Flour Mill has been at 204 for a while, and the building has some character to it, meaning it’s a bit worn down but sturdy. It’s not a fancy office job. It is physical, loud, and messy. But people need their flour and oil, so we keep the machines going as long as we can. Most days are long, but there is a certain satisfaction in seeing the finished product ready to go.
