Merdian Mobile Pvt Ltd is tucked away on Gundu Salai in Semmandalam. If you know Cuddalore, you know it can get pretty crowded around here, especially near our spot at A 3. We spend our time looking at screens, fixing buttons, and trying to figure out why someone’s phone won’t turn on anymore. It's a small place, mostly filled with spare parts and chargers. We started this because everyone in the neighborhood seemed to have a cracked screen at some point. The mail usually comes addressed to S O Kandhavelp, which is just part of how we are listed here. It isn't always easy finding the right parts for some of the older models, but we do what we can. Sometimes the shop gets a bit messy with all the tiny screws and wires lying around on the workbench. We sit there under the tube light for hours. Being in Tamil Nadu, the heat can be a bit much in the afternoon, so we usually have the fan going full blast. We’re not some big fancy showroom with glass walls. It’s just a practical shop where people bring their gadgets when they’re acting up. We know most of the regulars who stop by to ask questions or just get a recharge. It’s steady work, and it keeps us busy from morning until we close up for the night. We just try to get the phones back to their owners as quick as possible. It is a humble living, but the work is steady enough.
