Working on the TS 2 Expansion project down in Neyveli is a massive undertaking. Our office is focused on the planning side of things, and it’s located right in the middle of the action in Tamil Nadu. The heat here is something you have to experience to understand; it’s thick and constant. Nirmalya Dutta and the rest of the GET team spend most of the day hunched over laptops and large-scale maps. The planning is intense because there are so many moving parts with the expansion going on. We are right there at the site, so you can hear the heavy machinery and the general hum of the project all day long. It is a very industrial atmosphere. The office itself is more of a functional hub than anything else. There are wires everywhere and the walls are pinned with timelines and technical drawings. We drink a lot of water and try to keep the fans pointed directly at us. It’s a lot of pressure to get the planning right, but the team here just puts their heads down and gets on with it. We don't have much time for small talk or anything that isn't related to the project milestones. It’s a big site, and walking from one end to the other is a workout in itself. We deal with the logistics and the daily hurdles that come with a project of this scale, trying to keep everything moving forward.
