Alsharif Soft Drinks

Down at 19 Keerakara Street in Parangipettai, things move a little slower than in the big cities. We’ve got our small shop Alsharif Soft Drinks set up there. It’s an old street with a lot of character, and we’ve been part of it for some time. The building is simple, just enough room for the crates and a small counter for us to work behind. We mostly deal with soft drinks, and during the hot months, we can barely keep the stuff on the shelves. Parangipettai has a way of getting quite humid, so a cold drink is always welcome. We know most of the people who walk through the door by their first names. It’s that kind of place. Sometimes we sit outside on a stool when it's quiet and just watch the people go by on Keerakara Street. We don't have a website or anything like that; we just rely on the locals knowing where to find us at number 19. The work is mostly just moving bottles around and making sure the crates are stacked safely. It’s hard on the back sometimes, but it’s honest work. We don't try to be something we’re not. It’s just a soft drink shop in a small town. We open up, we serve whoever comes in, and we close up when the sun goes down. That’s the daily life here for us.
