Out here in Bollur Village, things move a lot slower than they do in the big cities. Our place at 26/533 in Kushalnagar is surrounded by a lot of greenery, which is nice when the weather is good. We spend a lot of our time just keeping up with the maintenance because the dampness from the trees can be a bit much for the walls. Running a hotel in a village means you have to be ready for anything. One day the water pump might decide to stop working, or a guest might arrive much later than they said because they got lost on the country roads. We don’t have those fancy automated check-in kiosks or anything like that. Usually, it’s just one of us at the front desk waiting to hand over a key and show people where the dining area is. The rooms are simple and we try to keep them clean and aired out. In the mornings, you can hear the birds and maybe some cows from the nearby farms. It’s a quiet life for the most part. We spend our afternoons making sure the garden isn't overgrown and checking that the kitchen has enough supplies for dinner. People come here when they want to get away from the noise, and we try to just let them be. It’s not a five-star resort with gold-plated taps, just a place to sleep and have a decent meal while you're visiting.
