Tarai-Doars Welfare Foundation

Tarai-Doars Welfare Foundation is located up in Alipurduar, on Saradamoni Road in Debinagar. We are based at Mr. Manik Dey’s place. This part of West Bengal is beautiful, being so close to the forests and tea gardens of the Doars. Our work is focused on the welfare of the people living in this region. It is a very local effort. Most of us have lived in Alipurduar our whole lives. We don't have a fancy corporate structure. Instead, we have a group of friends and neighbors who want to see things improve around here. The office is just a simple room with a few chairs and a cupboard for our documents. We spend a lot of time traveling to the more remote areas to see what people need. The weather can be quite unpredictable here, with heavy rains that sometimes block the roads. We don't mind much; it is just part of living in the Tarai region. We handle various welfare tasks, from helping with school supplies to checking on the elderly. It is honest, quiet work. We don't go around advertising what we do in the newspapers. We just show up and do what we can with the little we have. It is a small office, but it is the heart of everything we try to do for our community. Each day brings something different.
