Further Steps Welfare Foundation

You can find Further Steps Welfare Foundation over on B.G. Road, right in Ward 16 here in Alipurduar. It’s a busy part of town and we’ve been at this address for a while now. The building is older, but it serves us well enough for what we need to do. Most of us grew up around here, so we’ve seen how Alipurduar has changed over the years. We started this foundation because there were gaps that needed filling and we thought we could help out in our own way. It’s a lot of footwork, really. We spend most of our time out in the wards rather than sitting behind a desk. When we are in the office, it’s usually to plan the next week or catch up on stuff we missed. The fans in the office make a bit of noise, and the street outside is always loud with traffic and people shouting, but you get used to it. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. It's just a few of us trying to take those further steps, which is where the name came from. We take things one day at a time. It’s hard work and the weather doesn’t always cooperate, especially during the heavy monsoon rains. But we are here every day. It’s just what we do. No big speeches or fancy promises, just regular work for the people living nearby. We just try to be useful.
