Sri Krishan Bhandar

If you ever find yourself out in Vill- Kasiabari, you might run into our place. We are tucked away in the Cooch Behar district, under the Uttarbara post office area. It’s a quiet village, not like the big cities you see on TV. Life moves a bit slower here at Sri Krishan Bhandar. We spend a lot of our time just looking out at the trees and the fields when things aren't busy. The road to get here is a bit narrow, so you have to be careful if you’re driving a big car. Most of our neighbors are farmers or people who have lived here their whole lives. We keep the doors open mostly to let the breeze in, though in the rainy season, we have to watch out for the damp. There’s a wooden bench outside where people sometimes sit to catch their breath. I usually get here around eight in the morning after having breakfast. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but it hasn’t been a priority lately. We handle things as they come. It’s just me and a couple of others keeping the place running. We don’t have fancy computers or anything like that. Just some ledgers and a lot of patience. It’s a decent life out here in the village. People know us by name, and that’s plenty for us. We just keep doing what we do every day.
