We started Santimore Farmers Producer Companylimited because a bunch of us in the Alipurduar and Jalpaiguri area needed a way to organize better. Our main point of contact is Premananda Biswas, and we usually get things sorted at his place over in Khawchandpara, near Falakata. It's a bit of a trek to get out here sometimes, especially when the roads aren't great, but we like it here in Salkumar. Madarihat is the general area people know us by. Most of the people involved are just local farmers who have been working these fields for years. We aren't trying to be some big corporate entity; we’re just a collective trying to figure out how to sell our produce and buy what we need without getting a bad deal. Being in a place like Jalpaiguri means we deal with a lot of rain and humidity, so we talk a lot about that when we meet up at Premananda’s house. The address is long and looks complicated on paper, but if you live around here, you know exactly where Khawchandpara is. We don't have a fancy lobby or a secretary. Usually, someone is just sitting on a porch with some papers and a phone. It's practical and it works for us. We're just Santimore Farmers, trying to keep our traditions alive while making sure our families have what they need. It’s a simple life, mostly. We aren't looking for fame, just a way to keep our farms going and our people fed.
