Out in the village of Daudpur in Purba Medinipur, things move a bit slower than in the big cities. That’s where East Coast Marina is set up. We’re close to the water, which makes sense for what we do. It’s a quiet area, mostly green fields and small roads until you get to our facility. We deal with boat storage and some maintenance work for people who keep their vessels on this side of the coast. It’s not a high-tech operation. We have some sheds and a bit of open space where the boats sit under covers. The air is salty, and you can hear the birds most of the day. Sometimes the rain in West Bengal can be a real problem, flooding the tracks or making the ground too soft to move anything heavy with the tractor. We just wait it out. Most of our staff lives right here in the village or close by, so we're all neighbors. We don't have any big corporate goals; we just want to make sure the boats are safe and ready when the owners want to take them out for a trip. It’s a simple life out here in Daudpur. We spend a lot of time just keeping the place tidy and checking on the equipment we use. It’s a practical business for a rural area near the sea, and we like the peace and quiet we get.
