Yogabalaji Metal Scraps

Down at 52 Nehru Street in Anuparpallayam, you’ll find our yard. It’s easy to spot because of the piles of metal sitting out front. We handle all kinds of scraps—copper, aluminum, iron, whatever people bring in on their carts. The scales are always being checked to make sure they're right because that’s the most important part of this job. It’s a dirty business, honestly. Your hands are always black by lunchtime, and the smell of old metal stays in your clothes. We spend a lot of time sorting things into different bins so they can be sent off to the bigger plants. Anuparpallayam Post is a busy area for this kind of work, so there are always trucks coming and going. We have a small shed where we keep the records and escape the sun for a bit. The dog sleeps under the sorting table most of the day. We don’t have a website or anything like that; we just open the gates in the morning and wait for the deliveries. Sometimes we go out to pick up stuff if it’s a large amount, but mostly people come to us. It’s hard on the back, lifting those heavy pieces all day long, but it pays the bills. Nehru Street is loud with the sound of clanging metal, and we’re the ones making most of that noise. It's just a regular yard doing regular scrap work.
