Vks Garments

Our place, Vks Garments, is located at Jeeva Nagar in Sulthanmet on Mangalam Road. It is a busy part of town and we have been set up here for a while. Every morning we open up and start sorting through the fabrics we have for the day. There is usually a lot of noise from the traffic outside on Mangalam Road, but we get used to it after a few hours of working. We make different kinds of clothes and garments right here. The sewing machines run pretty much all day long. Sometimes we run out of thread or a needle breaks, and someone has to go out and grab supplies. It is a simple operation with a few long tables for cutting and folding. We don't have a big fancy showroom or anything like that. It’s mostly just us working and keeping track of the orders that come in. The floor is usually covered in little bits of thread and fabric clippings by the time we close up in the evening. We try to sweep it every night but some pieces always hide under the heavy machines. Working in Jeeva Nagar is okay because there are other shops around and people know us by name. We just do our work and try to keep things moving. It gets hot in the afternoons so we keep the fans going at full speed. It is a practical way to spend the day and we like the rhythm of it.
