Indian National Spring

Our workshop is over in the Rajaram Industrial Estate on Ramasamy Naidu Street. It’s easy to find because we’re quite close to Avila Convent and Thadagam Road. We’ve got two units here at Indian National Spring, 17/1 and 17/1A. It’s a noisy place because we’re making springs all day. The machines have a specific rhythm to them that you get used to after a while. We handle different types of metal coils and wires. It’s heavy work, and your hands usually end up pretty dirty by the end of the shift. The industrial estate is always busy with trucks coming and going. We’ve been here for a long time. The building itself is nothing special, just sturdy walls and a high ceiling to keep the heat from getting too bad. We have a small area in the corner for tea breaks. That’s where we sit and talk about how the day is going. It’s mostly local folks working here. We don’t go in for anything fancy. We just focus on getting the dimensions right on every spring we coil. Sometimes the wire snags or a machine needs a bit of oiling, which slows us down. But we just get back to it. It’s a practical life. We see the school kids passing by the main road when we head home. It’s a good spot to be in, right in the heart of the industrial area. We keep our schedules simple and consistent.
