Treasury Officer

Our office is tucked away in the D-13 Red Fields Housing Unit on Kamarajar Road in Coimbatore. It’s a quiet enough area for the most part, though the traffic on the main road can get a bit loud during the morning rush. Being a Treasury Officer involves a lot of sitting with ledgers and computer screens, checking figures over and over. The building has that older housing unit feel, not like those modern complexes they are putting up now. We have some plants in the corner that someone forgets to water sometimes. The sun hits the front windows pretty hard in the afternoon, so we keep the curtains drawn to stay cool. People come in and out all day for various government-related paperwork and financial things. We don't have a big lobby or anything, just some chairs for people to wait. Sometimes the internet is slow and we just have to sit and talk for a minute. It’s a 641018 zip code life, very routine and predictable. Most of the staff has been together for years, so we know who likes their coffee with extra sugar. We try to keep the files organized, though the stacks seem to grow faster than we can clear them. It’s just honest work in a regular part of Tamil Nadu.
