Setting up shop on Big Bazaar Street was a choice we made because it’s always busy with people. We are at number 211, right near the lane for Annapoorna Hotel. If you look up from the street, you can see the Clock Tower nearby. It’s a big landmark that helps people find us when they get lost in the market. Inside, it’s mostly just stacks of books everywhere you look. We try to keep them in some kind of order, but it’s hard when new shipments arrive every other day and we run out of shelf space. The staff here mostly knows their way around the piles. We spend a lot of time drinking tea and talking to the regulars who come in from the hotel lane nearby. It’s definitely not a quiet library type of place. You can hear the traffic and the people shouting outside all day long. Some days the heat is really something else, so we keep the ceiling fans going at full speed. We’ve got all sorts of books, and sometimes we even find things we forgot we had at the very bottom of a crate. It’s a bit of a maze in here. We don't have a big sign out front, just the name on the door. We focus on getting books to whoever needs them. It’s a simple life for us. The street gets muddy when it rains, so we have to watch the doorstep. Mostly, we just wait for the next person to walk in and ask for something we haven't heard of in years.
