You can find our workshop at the Vimal Complex, which sits right on Dharapuram Main Road. We are in No. 1, which is a convenient spot in the K. N. P. Colony area. It is a very busy part of town, especially in the mornings when everyone is heading off to their own jobs. Our setup is kept pretty simple because we need the room to work. We have the machines lined up in rows and enough floor space to move the fabric around without bumping into each other too much. Most of the time, the air is filled with the sound of sewing and people shouting over the noise to be heard. Since we do knitwear, there is usually lint and bits of thread on the floor, no matter how much we try to sweep up. The staff here has been working together for a long time, so we all know each other’s habits and how to get things done. We usually take our lunch together in the small break area we cleared out near the back. Dharapuram Main Road is always humming with traffic, which keeps us feeling like we are in the thick of things. Sometimes the deliveries show up late and we have to scramble to get everything sorted, but that is just part of the trade. We do not have any big signs or fancy carpets, just the tables and the work.
