Swetha Knits

Our place is located at No. 3 in the Pkr Layout area, down in Perichipalayam. It’s just off Dharapuram Road here in Tiruppur. Most people in this town are involved in the garment trade one way or another, and we are no different. We focus on knitting. The machines are usually running all day long, so it gets pretty loud inside the unit. It’s a practical setup, nothing fancy to look at from the outside at all. We started small with just a couple of machines and slowly added more as we could afford them over the years. The floor is usually covered in bits of thread and scrap fabric, but that’s just a sign of work getting done. We have a small crew of workers who have been with us since the beginning. They know how the machines sound when they’re running right. We mostly handle bulk orders for other companies, so we don’t see many walk-in customers. It’s mostly just trucks coming and going with yarn or finished pieces. The weather gets really hot here, especially in the afternoons, but we keep the big fans going and just get on with it. We don’t bother with big marketing plans or fancy brochures. People know where to find us if they need knitting work done in Tiruppur. It's a simple business and we like it that way. We just keep our heads down and work.
