The New Indian Express

Our office for The New Indian Express is located down in Pollachi, over at Baladuari Swamy Nagar. The address is 11/72, right near the Makkinampatty Post. It’s a quiet enough area of Tamil Nadu, but the newspaper business itself is anything but quiet. We spend our days here gathering news and making sure everything is ready for the readers. Pollachi has its own rhythm, and we try to keep up with that. The building is just a regular house-style office where we have the desks set up. It’s not a corporate skyscraper. We’ve got local reporters who are always out on their bikes or in cars, looking for stories or checking on things. Inside, it’s mostly computers and the sound of typing. We deal with all the local happenings and make sure the distribution side is handled so people get their papers on time in the morning. Sometimes the deadlines are tight and things get a bit stressful, but that’s just how news works. We don’t really do anything besides focus on the daily paper. It’s been our routine for a long time now. People in Makkinampatty know we’re here if they have a tip or just want to say hello. It's a straightforward job, and we just try to do it right every day without making too much of a fuss about it. We’ve seen the town change a lot over the years, and we’ve been here to record it all. It’s just us and a lot of commitment to the local news.
