Sri Subbu Industries

Out here on Kannusamy Gounder Street, things stay pretty noisy. We are right near the rail gate in Rathipuri Post Office area, so we hear the trains passing by all through the shift. Sri Subbu Industries is based at No. 19- A/2, and it’s a typical Coimbatore workshop setup. We have the machines running most of the time, so you have to talk loud to be heard over the clanking. The floor is concrete and usually has a bit of oil or dust on it, which is just part of the job. We make various parts and industrial items for folks who need them. Most of our guys have been living around here for years. We walk to work or take the bus. The afternoon sun hits the front of the building pretty hard, so we usually keep the big shutters halfway down to stay in the shade. It’s a practical place. We don't have any polished meeting rooms or leather chairs. If someone wants to talk business, they usually just stand by the workbench or sit on a plastic stool. We keep track of orders in big ledger books and sometimes on the computer when it's working right. Living and working in Coimbatore means you get used to the industrial life. We just keep the machines maintained and make sure the orders go out the gate on time. It’s steady work and it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday.
