S.Kanagaraj Chartered Accountant

I have my office set up in the Co-Operative Colony in Mettupalayam. It’s a small place at house number 3/3, right in a quiet part of town. Being a chartered accountant here means I see a lot of the same faces coming in and out. The office is basically just a room with a lot of shelves for all the tax books and client files. It gets quite warm in Tamil Nadu, so I usually have the fan running full speed most of the day. There is a small table for visitors to sit at, but mostly it is just me and my assistant working through the registers. We spend a lot of time with calculators and pens, marking things down and double-checking the math. It’s not a fancy corporate office with air conditioning and glass walls. It’s just a practical space where people can bring their receipts and papers. Sometimes the neighborhood is noisy with children playing outside or people passing by, but it’s a good place to be. I usually start early in the morning before the heat gets too bad. People drop by without much notice sometimes, and we just sit down and go over whatever they brought. It is a slow and steady kind of work, and I’ve been doing it this way for a long time. There isn't much more to it than that. I just focus on the books and making sure the entries are right.
