V. R. J. Batteries

If you head over to the TNHB Colony in Singanallur, specifically the SIHS Colony area, you’ll find us. We are right at M16, basically at the back side of the aerodrome. You can often hear the planes taking off if it’s a busy day at the airport. We deal with batteries of all sizes. Mostly it’s for cars and bikes, but we handle the big ones for home power backups too. The shop is full of heavy black boxes and there’s always a few batteries on the charging bench humming away. It’s a bit cramped because batteries take up a lot of floor space. We get our hands dirty with battery acid and grease quite a bit. It’s just part of the daily job. Sometimes people come in because their car won't start in the morning, and they’re in a real hurry. We try to test things quickly to see if it’s just a dead cell or something else entirely. It’s a local spot, so we know a lot of the neighbors around the colony by name. We aren't some big shiny showroom with glass doors. It’s more of a workshop feel where things get fixed and moved around. We keep a ledger of what comes in and what goes out. It gets pretty warm in the afternoons, but we have a small fan that keeps the air moving. We’ve been at this Singanallur location for a while now, just providing batteries to whoever stops by.
