Sheela Clinic

We've been running Sheela Clinic at 46 East Power House Road for quite a while now. Gandhi Puram is a busy neighborhood and we are right in the thick of it. The clinic isn't one of those huge, shiny medical centers you see in the fancy parts of town. It is just a plain, practical place where we help people with their everyday health problems. Most of our day is spent seeing neighbors who have come in with a cough or a fever. We know most of the families around here by name. The waiting room is small and can get a bit stuffy when it’s full, especially during the summer months. We try to keep the overhead fans going as much as possible. Sometimes the traffic outside on East Power House Road is so loud we have to close the front door just to hear what the patients are saying. It’s a bit of a struggle to keep the dust out since we’re so close to the road, but we do our best. There are just a few of us on staff here, so we all end up doing a bit of everything, from answering the phone to cleaning up. We don't have any fancy machines or anything, just the basics for a local clinic. We’re usually here from early morning until late evening, just taking things as they come. It’s simple work, but it keeps us busy and we feel like we’re doing something useful for Gandhi Puram.
