Selvakumari Foundation

Selvakumari Foundation is situated at No 1266, Kalaignar Nagar on Medical College Road in Neelagiri. It started as a small family thing and just grew from there. Being near the medical college, we see a lot of people coming and going who are going through tough times. We aren't doctors ourselves, but we try to help out with the things that fall through the cracks. Maybe it’s helping someone find a place to stay or getting some basic supplies to a family in need. The office is usually a bit cluttered with donations and papers. We don't have a cleaning crew or a receptionist. If the phone rings, whoever is closest picks it up. Neelagiri is a nice area, but there is still plenty of struggle if you know where to look. We don't have a big board of directors or anything corporate like that. We just make decisions as we go based on who needs help that day. Sometimes we make mistakes or forget to log something, but we try our best to keep things moving. We don't have a fancy website or do any advertising. Most people find us through word of mouth. It’s just honest, local work. We’ve been at this for a while now and the building has some cracks in the walls, but it serves us well enough for what we do every day for the community.
