Our shop is right on DB Road, not too far from the Pazhamudhir. It’s a busy street with plenty of people walking by and cars honking all day long. We focus on older styles of jewelry and different art pieces. It’s not like the big modern malls where everything is shiny and looks exactly the same. Our place has a much different feel to it. We spend a lot of our time looking at very small details and making sure everything in the cases is kept clean and polished. Some days are slow and we just sit in the back and talk about the pieces we have. Other days, we have people coming in one after another wanting to see something specific they saw in the window. We don’t use any high-pressure sales tactics here. If someone likes a piece of jewelry, they usually just know it right away. We try to keep the atmosphere relaxed for everyone. The lighting in the shop is okay, but we often take things over near the front window to see the real color in the natural sunlight. Being near Pazhamudhir means we get a lot of local folks stopping in after they get their daily groceries. We’ve become a part of the neighborhood over the years. We aren’t some big chain store with a manual for how to talk to people. We just run the shop how we think is best. It’s a lot of work keeping track of all the inventory, but we enjoy seeing the unique items.
