About Research Scholar – Metals & Minerals in Coimbatore
I work out of my place at Srinilayam, number 460 on N.S.R. Road in the Saibaba Colony area of Coimbatore. Being a research scholar isn’t really like having a regular job where you go to an office and clock in. My office is basically my room, which is currently buried under a mountain of books, journals, and handwritten notes. It’s a bit messy, but I know where everything is. N.S.R. Road is a pretty busy part of town, so there’s always the sound of traffic in the background while I’m trying to write. I spend a lot of time on the computer, looking at data or trying to get my thesis chapters to make sense. It’s a lot of solitary work, and some days I don’t talk to anyone but the tea stall guy down the street. It’s not a fancy life, but it’s what I chose. People in the neighborhood see me coming and going with my bag full of books. I’ve been at this for a few years now, and sometimes it feels like I’ll never finish, but I keep at it. I don't have any staff or assistants. It’s just me and my research. I try to stay organized, but sometimes the ideas come faster than I can type them. It’s just honest, hard academic work being done in a quiet corner of Coimbatore.
