If you go to Udayar Street in Meeatchi Nagar, you will find us at 8/11. This is where R. S. Thandoori Aduppu Suppliers is located. Kavundam Palayam is the broader area. We spend our days working with clay and metal. There is always some dust in the air from the materials we use. The aduppu, or ovens, take up a lot of the floor space. They are heavy and solid. We have our tools scattered around the work area. It is a hot job, especially when we are finishing the ovens. We have a lot of different sizes of aduppu sitting around in various stages of being finished. The street outside is usually quiet, but we make some noise with our hammers and tools. We have been in this spot for a long time. The building is simple, with a high ceiling to help the heat escape. Our clothes usually get pretty dirty by the end of the day. We have a small bench where we sit for a few minutes when the work gets tough. People come by to see the ovens and we show them what we have ready. It is honest, physical work. Kavundam Palayam has been our home for a while now. We just focus on getting the ovens built right, one day at a time, right here on Udayar Street. It is a heavy job but we do it.
